Charlie Frier 1951 ~ 2008 Charles Ray Frier, 57, passed away on October 1, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah after a valiant battle with cancer.Charlie was born on January 12, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Chester Martin and Hilga Judd Frier. His association with his friends and family, motorcycles, Sturgis Rallies and NASCAR Racing were his passions in life. Survived by his mother, Hilga; sisters, Joleen and Mary; daughters, Cecily and Jade. Preceded in death by his father, C.M. and his sister, Roberta. At Charlie's request, there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Primary Children's Hospital in Charlie's name.

How could you not be friends with a guy named Charlie?
Especially one who was so funny to be around. And a genuine kook at that.
I saw Charlie about 20 years ago at a local tavern one day. It was in the general neighborhood and I heard Charlie was working there, so in I went.
He was there alone, working in the kitchen, and he came out, hugged me and we sat and talked for a few minutes. It had been a long time since the last time I had seen him before that.
Charlie seemed happy, said he had hurt his back and was finding work where he could.
Then, I lost track until about 8 years ago. I was seeing the owner of the Barbary Coast biker bar about advertising something or other and when the subject popped up about high school. I said I had gone to Hillcrest and this guy said he had attended Bingham High and off we went for a few moments. Then, out of the clear blue sky, he asked me if I knew Charlie Fryer. I said yes, of course, and he pointed to the back corner of his parking lot and said Charlie parked his motor home there in the summer and spent the winters in St. George! Charlie was a Snowbird, traveling back and forth to catch the best weather.
I have to say that after that I always drove past the Barbary Coast looking for the motor home and never just turning the damn wheels of my Jeep into the parking lot, driving to the back and saying hello.
One of life's lessons now that he's gone.
I was disappointed that the family didn't have any kind of service when Charlie died.
Oh our Charlie...He was nice and fun and in jr.high had a crush on me. I really liked Charlie but not romantically. I've wondered for years what ever became of Charlie. I am saddened to find out he is gone...but more so for the way he had to live. God Bless charlie
