I have lived in Utah since graduating. I married in 1970 to my best friend, and he still is!!! I graduated from Beauty School right after graduating from high school and worked in that field for 5 years until the birth of our first child. I was a stay at home mom until the economy dropped when our youngest was in 6th grade. Thus became the start of my home health business.
David worked in a family construction business with his 5 brothers. In 1978 the entire Hobbs family moved down to Enterprise,Ut to replace the cities sewer system and do some road work. We developed our own mobile home park at the edge of a National Forest. We lived there for 1 year and all of the children went to the same school, many in the same class. This was one of my favorite years of our marriage. We had so much fun. David wanted to get back into horsemanship as he had grown up on a horse. It was during this year that we set out to find the perfect horse. We built a paddock in the back yard and came all of the way back to Salt Lake to buy a horse and trailer. We purchased our first mare because of her racing pedigree, and she was in foal. We delivered our first foal in Enterprise and ended up coming home with 3 horses at the end of our stay. The home we had rented out when we went to Enterprise would not fit our animal needs so we sold and found 1.5 acres in South Jordan and have been here ever since. The place allowed our kids to become active in 4 H and this was great. David played around in the race industry for several years and did pretty well. Twenty five years later and 13 horses, 9 foals, 2 pigs, 5 rabbits, numerous chickens, sooo many goats, 1 turkey( who raised a hatch of baby chickens, I might add) we are down to our first foal born on the place. She will live on here until she doesn't, but I think our animal husbandry days are behind us( although secretly, I still want some chickens.)

In 1994 I became interested in Hospice Work and worked as a volunteer with IHC healthcare for several years. I was named Hospice Volunteer of the year in 1995. In 2002 I was selected to represent Salt Lake County as volunteer of the year and received the governors Silver Bowl Award. I continue to use my hospice training in my work as a care giver and feel very honored to be able to assist families and their loved ones during their final journey on this earth.

When The economy went down I went to work as a home health caregiver. I work for myself and have had many wonderful clients. I spent 4 summers (04-07) in Jackson Hole Wyoming caring for a woman who had a 1,000 acre cattle ranch and summered there. David was allowed to visit anytime he could, which was all that made the time apart workable. I took this past year off and just enjoyed my time off. I am currently working for a wonderful family in Holiday 20 hrs. a week.

I love being a grandmother and am fortunate to have both of my children living in or around Salt Lake. My oldest granddaughter took after her grandma and is into acting. She took the lead role in "YOU ARE A GOOD MAN CHARLEY BROWN" in Provo just recently and it was pure joy watching her perform.

In 1903 I traveled to Armenia to stay with my sister who was working there.I fell in love with the culture and the people.

David and I were fortunate enough to travel to Thailand and spend 3 weeks there in Nov.05. It was really wonderful.

I try and spend several weeks a year in Maine visiting family. I could live there and have a goal to have a summer/fall home there in the next 10 years.

After Davids father died 16 years ago the family business took a different path. Several brothers already had their children working with us so it was just natural for the fathers/sons to go on their own.
David and Justin worked hard for 10 years, but after this last economy slump they said enough, and they are now working for Rio Tinto. This has made me feel very happy to say the least, this feast or famine was getting a little old. I am grateful for their new job, they celebrate their first year next week.

School Story:

I was into drama and boys in school. I ran for Cheerleader, didn't make it, ran for Student Body secretary, didn't make it..but I did get to play opposite of Tom Berggren (who WAS Student Body President) in the junior class play.Does that count??

I was interested in DECA, took 2nd in State competition in job interviews..did I mention that I was into boys? That is until I met up with David my senior year and then unless we were fighting, I was all his, and still am.

Well Chris, this is my first visit to your site. I also attended Midvale Jr. in 7th and 8th grade and all four years at Hillcrest. I do not recall having known you,I was very shy but I would bet that I looked at you in the halls.. Sorry, I think your yearbook picture looks
great. Your profile was well written.. Thank you for your honesty and for being so genuine. And your original quote is right on the mark as well as humorous. Blessings to you and your family. Terri

Hi Jerry, how is it going for you? I just picked a 6 pound 10 ounce cantaloupe it was hanging right off of the wire and plant. ?Too neat. Garden question for you my garden guru. Aphids???? My Kale is loaded, wsa also last year. Not really killing the plant, just difficult to wash. Do I pull it all up or leave it until it freezes? Will leaving it in make me have
more aphids next year in that spot? Thanks for your expertise. I hope all is well with your family. They are wonderful.
