David Cottingham VIEW PROFILE

David Lee Cottingham, born in Denver, Colorado on October 16, 1950 died of complications with MS on March 17, 2006. He is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Rachel, brothers Glenn R. Cottingham (Hillcrest 1967), Dr. Stephen K. Cottingham (Brighton 1970), and sister Jennifer J. Cottingham. David attended public schools in the Jordan School District, graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1969. He participated in many activities and was always involved at church. In Salt Lake City he was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he served as President of the EYC. He graduated from the Edwin L. Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and worked in the family business, Cottingham Construction Company, Inc., in Texas until 1979 when he went to Dallas Theological Seminary and graduated in 1984 with a Master of Theology degree. In 1983, at age 32, he was stricken with MS, which gradually worsened over the years. From 1984 until his death he worked tirelessly in his role as a professional minister at Wayside Evangelical Free Church in San Antonio, Texas (over 3,000 members) where he served as Associate Pastor. David was well loved and highly regarded as a kind, good friend, someone with whom people could always easily relate. He was funny and was always the first to find some way to help out a stranger.

I loved this guy in school! He was bright and funny and never took anything too seriously and you didn't have to be in hbis circle to be his friend.

I'm sorry to read about his passing.

Lucinda Madsen (Craven)

David was a great guy. Lucille and I had wonderful times with him. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. He was everything that has been posted. I can't say enough good about him.
