Gwen Nickle Maxedon
A private memorial service will be in Durango for Gwen Nickle Maxedon, a two-year Durango resident, who died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at her home in Durango from cancer. She was 50.
There will be cremation at Hood Mortuary Crematory.
Mrs. Maxedon was born Nov. 19, 1950, in Salt Lake City. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in Midville, Utah, in 1969 and married R.P. "Peck" Maxedon on March 22, 1980, in Elko, Nev.
Mrs. Maxedon enjoyed cooking, gardening, and arts and crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Peck, of Durango; a daughter, Amber Carn of Salt Lake City; a son, Zack Maxedon of Durango; and three brothers, Scott Nickle of St. George, Utah, Gordon Nickle of Salt Lake City, and Jeff Nickle of Albuquerque, N.M.

Lucinda Madsen (Craven)
Gwen was always friendly with everyone. Even though I didn't hang out with her, I consider her one of my friends. She was a great person to know. I miss her twin brother Gordon as well. Gordon and Gwen were both good friends in school, from middle school through high school. I met them when "we" uppity east side kids were bussed to Midvale Jr. High from Cottonwood Heights each day and they were just great to know back then.Gwen always, always seemed to be wiser and older than her years. Very cool, very cool.
