Vicki Cram, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022 of natural causes at the age of 71.

Vicki was born November 12, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah as the second child to Mark Rasband and Melba Marie Nielson Cram. She loved her two sisters and three younger brothers and enjoyed a wonderful childhood in their house on Dell Road with  friends and cousins as neighbors. Many fun memories were made with cousins close by to pal around with.

Vicki attended several schools in the rapidly growing “Butler” area (now part of Cottonwood Heights), three elementary schools and then Midvale and Butler Junior High schools. She loved walking home from school with her sisters and stopping at Grandma & Grandpa Nielson’s house on the way. She continued on to Hillcrest High School, graduating in 1969. After high school, she attended and received her certification from cosmetology school. She practiced her new skills on many friends, neighbors and especially her brothers who wanted perms in the 1970s. She worked for JC Penney in the corporate office for a few years and then was hired by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Family History Department located in the Church Office Building. She worked as a Family History specialist analyzing microfiche for 30+ years, riding public transportation to and from downtown SLC for nearly all of that time. She was dedicated and reliable and loved her work for the Church and all the people she associated with.

Vicki was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings in her single adult wards as well as family wards. Her last and most favorite calling was Sunbeam teacher which she did for many years (maybe even a decade). Vicki loved those precious children and her Savior Jesus Christ and served them. She also loved her family very much and never missed a chance to visit or support them in their activities and family events. She was loved and admired by her siblings, and adored by all her nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. It was always a marked milestone when they finally grew “taller than Aunt Vicki”. 

Vicki loved to play cards, dice games and Mexican dominoes and was an avid BYU Football fan.  She loved music and would frequently break out in songs from musicals, John Denver or the Granite Fight song. While she faced many trials throughout her life, Vicki learned to “roll with the punches,” developed a positive outlook on life, and pressed forward through every challenge presented to her. She carried with her a light of love and goodness. She was a strength and support to her parents all throughout their lives. After her dad passed away, she and her mom were inseparable. It was always Melba and Vicki supporting their family at every event. 

Though small in stature, Vicki had the biggest heart. Most everyone can attest to receiving a phone call on their birthday from Vicki.  She would never let you leave without a hug and never ended a phone call without saying “tell everyone I love them”. We love you, Vicki, until we meet again.

She is survived by her sisters Constance Goeckeritz, Janene (Greg) Ihler and brothers Mark (Robyn) Cram, Reid (Tina) Cram, and Kent (Tammy) Cram; 29 nieces and nephews and their spouses; 67 grandnieces and nephews; and 1 great-grand niece.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Klaus Goeckeritz. We are certain they have welcomed her to her heavenly home with open arms.

We express our deep appreciation to all of the caretakers and friends at Carrington Court in South Jordan, where Vicki lived for the past 6 ½ years. She enjoyed all of the friends she made, the exercise classes, bingo games, and most importantly, the bus ride outings during her time there.

All family, friends and caregivers are invited to a viewing to be held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South) on Friday, May 6, 2022  from 6 to 8 p.m. in the evening.

All are also welcome to attend the graveside service to be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park South Valley,  13001 S. 3600 W. Riverton, Utah 84065.
